Operation: Theory Is Not Enough – Our Journey to Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi

We recently launched our flagship initiative, Operation: Theory Is Not Enough, with a visit to Adaklu Ahunda .

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. But for the children of Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi Basic School, a picture has been their only way of learning technology.

For years, these bright, eager students have learned about “The Mouse”, “The Keyboard”, and “The Monitor” by looking at drawings on a blackboard. They memorize the theory, but they have never had the chance to click, type, or explore.

At Happy Daffodils, we believe that THEORY IS NOT ENOUGH.

On 7th November 2025, my team and I traveled to the Volta Region to launch our flagship initiative: “Operation: Theory Is Not Enough.” Our mission was simple: to assess the needs on the ground and prepare to build the school’s first-ever computer lab.

The Reality on the Ground

When we arrived, the welcome was overwhelming. We met with the Headmaster, the Town Linguist, the Assemblyman, the teachers, and the School Management Committee (SMC).

Despite their warm reception, they shared a heartbreaking reality: the school currently has ZERO computers.

The Headmaster shared a story that stuck with us. Just before we arrived, a salesman had visited the school…..not to sell computers, but to sell picture books of computers. He was selling printed images of monitors and keyboards so the children could at least see what they looked like.

This is the current state of ICT education here: buying pictures because the real thing is out of reach.

The school and community leaders were hopeful that our visit would be different. They expressed a deep wish that this partnership would move beyond “word of mouth” and become a reality soon, finally making their difficult job of teaching technology without tools a little easier.

The Town Linguist also told us that a computer lab would be a “dream come true” for the community. He and the Assemblyman also spoke highly of my late mother, Bertha, whose legacy is the inspiration behind this entire initiative.

But the most powerful moment wasn’t in the meeting under the tree; it was with the children………..

Curiosity Unleashed

We brought a laptop with us and asked the kids: “Who can type HAPPY DAFFODILS on this laptop for us?”

The reaction was instant. It was heartbreaking yet deeply satisfying to see just how eager they were to learn.

The moment we opened the screen, the pupils crowded around. There was almost a “tug of war” to get close to it! They were hungry to touch it, to see it work, to type “Happy Daffodils” and see their own words appear on the screen.

We met students like (from left to Right) Randy, Osborne, and Florence who showed us that while they lack resources, they do not lack potential. They are ready. They are smart. They are just waiting for the tools.

Meet These Happy Daffodils- Randy, Florence and Osborne. Ready for opportunity.
The Future Is Bright

Our Goal: 15 Computers by January 2026

We left Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi with a clear mission to make Operation Theory Is Not Enough a reality. We are not just going to donate computers; we are going to build a sustainable digital ecosystem.

Our immediate goal is to secure:

15 Desktop Computers (New or Refurbished)

15 Surge Protectors (To protect the equipment)

Cooling Systems (Fans & AC to keep the lab functional)

Furniture & Wiring (Custom desks, chairs, and secure electrical installation)

How You Can Help Change the Narrative

We are calling on corporate partners, individual donors, and friends of Happy Daffodils to help us bridge this gap.

  • Corporate Partners: Do you have used office computers you no longer need? We can give them a second life.
  • Donors: Your contribution can help us buy a surge protector, a desk, or a ceiling fan.

We are changing the narrative from “Blackboard Diagrams” to “Hands-On Skills.” Because for these children, theory is not enough. They deserve the same digital opportunities that their urban peers have. We are bridging the digital divide.
